My digital work ranges from matte and speed paintings, to character concepts, paintovers and light tests of my own 3D work. I am very passionate about digital work; however, as a lighiting artist it is difficult to find time to pursue all the avenues of digital art, yet I constantly push myself to learn new techniques and advance my knowledge in the medium.
This section is primarily personal work, while my Demo Reel is primarily professional. Select pieces presented in this section are examples of work I have submitted to community projects, such as the lighting challenges run on cgtalk.com. I always try to incorporate new techniques I learn into these renders, while focusing on good lighting and interesting composition.
Since my first high school photography class I have been enthusiastic about taking and developing photos. While in college I further honed my skills and I constantly enjoy trying new techniques both in the darkroom and on the computer. Learning how light works in the real world, and how to manipulate it, are vital skills I have learned that continually strengthen the quality of my digital and CG work. That is why I am out every week taking photos in new and interesting ways.
This is primarily a collection of my traditional work: paintings, drawings and other media. I like to balance all the computer work I do with traditional art. Studying the master painters' use of light and color translates extremely well into my computer work. Their expert designs have given me a strong foundation and core artistic values on which I base my work.
